The Bonita Meadow Area offers miles and miles of very fine single track trails. There are some nice dirt roads in the area that offer more casual riding. Ups, downs and twists & turns and some fairly level routes are all available.

From Kernville head north on Mountain 99 over the Johnsondale Bridge (about 20 miles) and turn on Sherman Pass Road from there it's about 13 miles to Sherman Pass and another 3 or 4 to the mile long dirt road to Bonita meadow.

Ride REPORT - June 2005
Bonita Meadow Ride Report de Jim McWhorter

Bonita Meadow, WOW! Leon has been trying to get me up to ride the high country for the last several years. I had no idea that it would be such awesome riding. Nice cool weather lured Kath and me up for the weekend.

We packed the 5th wheel full of Power Bars and Gatorade and drove up Friday night after work. When we left Bako it was over 100 degrees. We arrived at Bonita just about dark and it was about 65 degrees. It was a very welcome drop in temperature. Leon and his friends had a nice camp fire going and helped us find a place to park.

When the sun came up the next morning I got a glimpse of what we didn't see the night before in the dark. Pine trees, flowing creeks, wild flowers and green grass everywhere. Oh, and don't forget the perfectly damp pine needle lined single-track meandering through the trees just at the edge of camp.

As you can tell from the pictures we had a great ride. 70 degree weather and a little hail storm. We will be back to Bonita before the summer is over. The temperature today was 104? Hmm, I think I'll go back tomorrow!
