We ride it often....now its time to fix it..

On Saturday, May 8th we are holding a Trail Maintenance event that will focus on one of our most popular trails....MR Toads! Meet in Hart Park by the Sheriff's range at 9:00am. We will work our way up the trail from the bottom. Bring shovels, rakes, gloves, water, pruners, and of course YOUR BIKE.

There will be a ride after the maintenance is complete so that we can enjoy the fruits of our labors.

See you then!

I ride Toads pretty much every time I go out on my bike, and I haven't noticed anything wrong with it that would require fixing

That's just my take though

I too was a little sceptic as to what really needed to be done to Toads, so I showed up to see. We removed some rocks, pruned some shrubs, reworked a couple of Berms and added two 4 foot drop offs. After the work was done we were eager to go down it. I was amazed at how much faster it seemed. We rode back up and did it again. Toads is still one of the greatest. Thanks to Kevin and Carrie for organizing and all those that put some work in. Good job. Amazing how a little maintenance will make the Trail flow better. Just kidding about the drop offs.

Many thanks to everyone who came out today! I was thrilled to see 15 people show up and put in a couple of hours to ensure our trails are fun for all... and will remain that way for some time to come. Our one-arm (or is it still half-arm?) wonder, Tim Strem, was a huge help on Thursday afternoon enabling us to get the tools out of the storage shed and walk the trail to help identify what needs to be done. It is amazing how much different a trial looks from the ground level and at a slower walking pace. Thanks to Tommy for making sure no one got out of control with the loppers or shovels, and for leading the crew who reopened the upper part of the trail for the first time in years. Lastly, thanks to ALL SSFTA members (and their families who let them come out and play) for making this such a welcoming and fun group with which to ride and hang.

Kevin

PS - If you took pictures today, please send them my way so I can post in the Photo Gallery.

Wonderful time yesterday Kevin. Amazing how fun Trail Maintenance can be when it is a good size turnout of volunteers with positive attitudes. Even more fun is to enjoy the fruits of your labor days later! Thanks to everyone who participated and made this an enjoyable experience.
