I just got done checking out the Woodward Bike park website. WOW! Fresno has a Parks & Recreation that actually built a bike park. It's actually called a mountain bike "skills" park!!!! Can you believe that? Okay, I'm new to the area so forgive me if I get all excited, but could we get something like that going around here? I have ridden with some of the kids around here and they are great riders and really into it. I would like to see more of that. Hell, they build skate parks all the time. Why not a Bakersfield version? Has anybody ventured down this road errrrrr trail yet?

If you haven't already, check out the Woodward website: www.woodwardmtbpark.com/Woodward.html

Also check out http://www.fresno.gov/Government/Depa... regarding what Fresno has done for their kids (and some adults). I'm jealous.

Holy cow! Fresno has it right! We have to get things like that started in this area. I'm sure it's easier than one would think, especially if you get corporate sponsor type deals to help (invest) along with local businesses. I don't have the time (myself) to "spearhead" an effort, but I can certainly be very involved if there is any interest. I would bet large sums of cashola that an Action sports type effort to the likes of what they have going on in fresno would take off big time. There is NOTHING for the youth in bakersfield (unless they're into soccer) to do.

I guess I will have to attend the next ssfta meeting to see if the officials would like to get something rolling on this.
