Today is 10 months since crash...

I've been riding dirt since New Years, although sporadically, and have not experienced any knee pain.  So for now at least, I'm riding again and getting stronger and in better riding shape every week.  But I now know that could change tomorrow so I appreciate every day I can ride.  Had my 1st 2+ hour ride a few days ago and it felt great.  I still walk w/a pretty good limp, my left leg remains significantly smaller than right, and I'm extremely slow when riding uphill.   At least I'm on my way.  I may even do the Foothill Classic just to have something to train for, although I'll most likely place last in my category.  I hope to see a lot of club members participating.  Enjoy the ride...

Hey Geoff, if you enter the Foothill Classic I will buy you a giant delicious beer when it's over! Last or not.

Today is 11 months since I realized I couldn't jump as well as I thought...

This may be the last entry I add to this thread (you're welcome!).  I raced the 2-lap beginner class in the Foothill Classic and actually placed.  I'm still significantly weaker than normal but I'm getting close so additional updates aren't necessary.  A good part of the reason I placed in the race was due to the nearly $6000 Cannondale 29er I demo'd that day.  That carbon hardtail felt like it had a motor when going uphill (weighed about 20 lbs.).  I'm looking at 29er's now!!  And a hardtail to boot!  That thing was fast and fun! I continue to have a slight limp and hopefully that too will be gone in the next month or so.

I'm planning on participating in the Keyesville race this year in the sport class.  Looking forward a funfilled weekend.  Are any of you going up to pre-ride the course?  It's been several years since I raced there and don't know if I remember the course.

Thanks again to all who offered their support and encouragement during the long recovery.  Very much appreciated!!

Geoff, you did awesome in the Foothill race.  You're back!  Tim and I want to go ride Keyesville course too before the race, but we need the weather to cooperate-- and babysitting, as always.  Maybe we'll go the week before (Sunday, March 13th?), and we'll post it in the forums for anyone else that wants to go with us -- or if anyone else is going, I hope they post it.  They are changing the course a little this year, I believe...

Today is one year since surgery and I couldn't resist another post to close out the year.  I'd say I'm agout 80% there as far as strength goes and still working at it.  I can still feel that splintered piece of bone sticking out to the center left part of thigh.  As my muscle grows it occasionally causes pain.  When I lie on my right side I can actually see a lump where the end of the piece is.  Weird.  Hopefully, it'll disappear with time.

I decided to not participate in the Keysville Classic as planned due to being under the weather.  From the pics it looks like I missed a good time.  Next year.

Thanks again to all for your support and encouragement over the past year.

Geoff
