We ride it often....now its time to fix it...

On Saturday, May 8th we are holding a Trail Maintenance event that will focus on one of our most popular trails....MR Toads! Meet in Hart Park by the Sheriff's range at 9:00am. We will work our way up the trail from the bottom. Bring shovels, rakes, gloves, water, pruners, and of course YOUR BIKE.

There will be a ride after the maintenance is complete so that we can enjoy the fruits of our labors.

See you then!

I rode Toad's today. I gotta say I just don't see any need for maintenance on that section, unless you plan on sterilizing it. Just my two cents. I would show up, but I have a track meet to attend. I would love to see what you have in mind as far as "maintenance" on Toad's.

TOAD'S IS GREAT! We rode it today on the Saturday 2:00 ride, and it is fabulous! It was definitely in need of maintenance. I challenge Eric S. to say anything negative about Toad's after riding it now; check it out Dude. Eddie said 15 people showed up to work on it, and it is now a smooth ride (clear of ruts, tumbleweeds, etc.). The entrance into Toad's is so much better too. The only problem is that riders must beware: there's no rocks now to brake or veer around; hence, it is super speedy. No reason to brake = no brakes. Ride it out!

Trail Maintenance Kings Tim Strem and Leon Graves have got to be proud. Nice job Kevin!

Many thanks to everyone who came out today! I was thrilled to see 15 people show up and put in a couple of hours to ensure our trails are fun for all... and will remain that way for some time to come. Our one-arm (or is it still half-arm?) wonder, Tim Strem, was a huge help on Thursday afternoon enabling us to get the tools out of the storage shed and walk the trail to help identify what needs to be done. It is amazing how much different a trial looks from the ground level and at a slower walking pace. Thanks to Tommy for making sure no one got out of control with the loppers or shovels, and for leading the crew who reopened the upper part of the trail for the first time in years. Lastly, thanks to ALL SSFTA members (and their families who let them come out and play) for making this such a welcoming and fun group with which to ride and hang.

Kevin

PS - If you took pictures today, please send them my way so I can post in the Photo Gallery.

Wonderful time yesterday Kevin. Amazing how fun Trail Maintenance can be when it is a good size turnout of volunteers with positive attitudes. Even more fun is to enjoy the fruits of your labor days later! Thanks to everyone who participated and made this an enjoyable experience.

I'm glad the cleanup went well. Did you or anyone else out there yesterday happen to find a black ipod nano in the parking lot. If so, I would really love to have it back. I was leaving just as everyone was showing up to clean up toad's. I had to go to work and could not stick around. I'm thinking it got bumped out of the car. If you know anything about it, please call Joel at 808-1868. Greatly appreciate it.

Joel

Sorry to hear about your lost iPod Joel. I don't know of anyone finding it while we were out there, but we will put the word out. Hopefully it will turn up.

Kevin

I had nothing bad to say about Toad's before the maintenance, and that remains the same several visits after.
